History becomes an audio-visual experience in the newly designed Haus der Stadtgeschichte Waiblingen. Space 4 from Stuttgart invited TMS to design and stage three multimedia spaces. The main attraction of the museum is the city model of Waiblingen, which is brought to life by the combination of innovative technology, film, audio-play and graphics. A 10-minute film allows visitors to relive the city‘s history from its very beginning up until now. Another room is filled with clocks from different eras and becomes an orchestral composition by combining church bells, ticking clocks and other „sounds of time“, creating an unexpected medley of modern rhythm and classical music.
The top floor of the museum hosts an acoustic installation in which four separate yet connected audio-plays subtly tell the stories of the former inhabitants of the building. Visitors are immersed in the past and closely experience meaningful but also very small, personal stories.
