CYCLES

Cyclebowl, Expo | Hanover (DE) | 2000

The "Cyclebowl" of the corporate pavilion of Duales System Deutschland AG at Expo 2000 in Hanover, the Pavilion of Ciculatory Systems, presented the basic idea of circulation management in an attractive, understandable, graphic manner. In the main show, real, cinematic elements entered into a symbiosis and created a spectacular climax. The film steered the architecture. Every 45 minutes, the inner room of the funnel-shaped three-story building went dark and all other installations were shut down. Music started. The circular floor projection, which was visible from all sides and stories, dominated the room. Everything was focused on the bottom of the bowl, onto which a projected rain fell, triggering the show. The central theme of the film was the force of ideas and the power of nature.

The film depicted the power of ideas and the force of nature, showing mankind as the motor, the victim and the problemsolver of self-generated developments: The endlessly developing spiral of action/reaction and cause/effect. Short, narrative "memory flashes" were connected associatively with the exhibition subjects.
