WALK-IN COMPOSITION

Bachhaus | Eisenach (DE) | 2007

Walk-in musical piece. It forms the heart of the exhibition in the reconstructed Bachhaus Eisenach. The installation is directly connected with the historical exhibits presented in this room and transposes them into the modern context of today. The visitors experience the music of Johann Sebastian Bach in the modern interpretations of various musicians, choirs, orchestras and dancers. Space-filling projections immerse the visitors in the action itself. Carried on by the music of Bach (BWV 213, BWV 564, BWV 1080), the visitors are transported directly into it by unusual perspectives, and they can experience the recorded music as if they were in the middle of a live performance. This production does not have a didactic function - rather, it supports the aura of the objects and underscores the fact that composition and instruments can only develop their timeless energy through the living interpretation of musicians.
