Human and Machine

Haus der Digitalisierung

2023
Where People and Technology Coexist
Digitalization as a living dialogue between humans and machines.

Tamschick Media + Space developed the foundational exhibition architecture for the new Haus der Digitalisierung, including all digital formats as a modular, reusable framework that equips the building for future temporary exhibitions and can be adapted to evolving themes and technologies.

For the inaugural temporary exhibition Mensch + Maschine, TMS conceived and designed the complete experience, including curation, content development, and in-depth research on the interplay between humans and machines.

Modern museum exhibition with illuminated displays, interactive tables, and nighttime cityscape projection overhead.
A flowing landscape of data and dialogue

Haus der Digitalisierung unites architecture, media, and content into a seamless environment.

A 360° LED panorama stages the “stream of digitalization”, immersing visitors in moving data and imagery that visualize how information flows through society and industry. Interactive stations provide focused learning spaces, while open zones invite reflection and conversation.

The spatial rhythm alternates between cognitive focus and emotional resonance.

Multiple perspectives

Visitors explore digitalization from multiple perspectives: technical, economic, cultural, and philosophical.

They navigate a landscape where machines process information and humans interpret meaning. Sound, light, and motion are synchronized across the entire spatial composition, creating an atmosphere that shifts between calm orientation and intensified immersion.

The result is a museum experience that encourages audiences to rethink the digital world as a creative ecosystem they can actively shape.

Centering human experience in digital world

Austria needed a central place where the abstract topic of digitalization becomes understandable and relevant for a broad public.

The required exhibition space had the task of providing a robust basic infrastructure for future temporary exhibitions: modular exhibition architecture, integrated digital formats, and technical equipment that can be reconfigured and reused across changing themes.

The space had to bridge complex technologies, speak equally to education and industry, and function as an evolving environment. Digital transformation needed to be communicated as a human centered experience shaped by choices, creativity, and responsibility, rather than as a purely technical display.

Haus der Digitalisierung – Mensch + Maschine positions Tulln as a key address for understanding digital transformation in Austria.

The exhibition turns digitalization into an experience that is both human and sensorial, strengthening public awareness of AI, automation, and data ethics while framing them as fields for creative human agency.

It establishes a reference model for how regions can communicate complex digital topics in a way that educates, engages, and empowers visitors to participate in shaping their own digital futures.
