The temporary installation “Die Nacht von Sevilla” is presented in the German Football Museum in Dortmund on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the World Cup thriller between Germany and France, bringing together many of the former protagonists and three generations of visitors. The semi-final of the World Cup in 1982 between the two teams turned out to be a drama that shook both nations and the world. Founding director of the German Football Museum, Manuel Neukirchner, describes the game like a classical five-act-drama in his book “Die Nacht von Sevilla”.
TMS transferred this into the chapters of an artistic media installation.
Visitors are teleported back to the moment of the game by entering a stylised living-room inspired and decorated in the fashion of 80s. Divided into a German and a French side, visitors can change national perspectives on the dramatic scenes, simultaneously becoming part of the scenery. The experience is made particularly authentic by the precisely fitting details and the original audio as game commentaries.
